Lesson 1 of 8

In this lesson

  • Identify the demo account
  • Understand virtual funds
  • Find the balance reset

Create an account for practice

A new QUOBIN trading account starts with $10,000 in virtual demo funds. Register with your email or Google account, then open the terminal. You do not need to make a deposit to practise on demo.

These funds are a practice balance. They are not a cash gift, a deposit bonus or money you can withdraw. Treat the balance as a way to learn the controls and observe how an example trade is recorded.

Check the account before every session

Open the account selector at the top of the terminal and choose Demo Account. Check the account label again before entering a virtual stake. The same terminal also supports a separate Live Account, so the account label matters.

Your demo and live balances are separate. Switching the selected account changes which balance a new order uses. This lesson and every practice task in Educational World are intended for demo mode.

  • Select Demo Account.
  • Confirm the virtual balance is visible.
  • Keep the account on demo while following the lessons.

Reset the balance when you need a fresh start

The reset icon beside the demo balance restores $10,000 in virtual funds. The account menu also includes an edit control for the demo balance. If your account displays another currency, the displayed amount follows your currency setting.

Before resetting, write down the results you want to review. Resetting the demo balance is not the same as cancelling an open order, clearing trade history or changing a live balance.

Start with one learning goal

For your first visit, learn where the account selector, chart, stake field, expiry control and trade history are. There is no need to rush into an example trade or try to grow the demo balance.

Choose a question you can answer at the end of the session, such as “Can I explain which balance this order will use?” Understanding the action is more useful than a lucky result.

Your demo exercise

Try this at your own pace

  1. Open the terminal and select Demo Account.
  2. Locate the reset icon without resetting an account you are still reviewing.
  3. Find the chart, order ticket and history before moving to the next lesson.

Select Demo Account before following any trading exercise.

Put it into words

Check your understanding

Answer all 3 questions to check the lesson. You can review your answers and try again.

1. What does the starting demo balance represent?
2. Which account should you select for these lessons?
3. What does the demo reset control do?
